Grand National Betting Guide 2012 - Ballabriggs all set to head to Aintree to try and retain title
Donald McCain's Ballabriggs will look to become the first horse since the legendary Red Rum to retain his Grand National title at Aintree on April 14 and the gallant 2011 victor is already being primed for the contest by McCain, who will look to emulate his late father's achievements on Merseyside.
Unsurprisingly, Ballabriggs is at the head of the 2012 Grand National odds and will no doubt be a definite runner in the eagerly-anticipated marathon, but there have already been some horses that have put their name into the picture.
Alan King's West End Rocker was an impressive winner of the Becher Chase as he stormed clear of Niche Market in the closing stages and propelled himself to the higher echelons of the betting with that success, whilst there was disappointment in late January when last year's second Oscar Time was ruled out of the race with a leg injury.
Royal Ascot and Cheltenham Festival winner Junior is supposedly being primed for the race by David Pipe, whilst Synchronised could head to Aintree after contesting the Cheltenham Gold Cup in what looks a fantasic renewal on paper and no doubt some more contenders will be unearthed in recent weeks and trials.
