It proved to be a fantastic race with drama from the start as King Johns Castle decided not to start to the dismay of his connections. Early leaders were Conna Castle, Hello Bud and Black Apalachi who were all travelling and jumping well. Of the favourites we never saw Niche Market, Tricky Trickster or Vic Venturi.

As we came onto the second circuit it was Black Apalachi who was looking good with Big Fella Thanks and Don't Push It coming into contention with three fences left to go. As they came to the last it was clear that AP McCoy on board Dont Push It was travelling well and he kicked away from Black Apalachi coming round the elbow to claim a famous win. Big Fella Thanks faded after the last and was pipped for 4th by State Of Play.
